内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 This study explores Japanese university students’ perceptions of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in English language learning, with an emphasis on skill development and engagement. A survey of 123 first-year students combined Likert-scale and open-ended responses. The findings show that 60.2% rated AI as “very effective” or “quite effective,” while over 90% reported some level of effectiveness. Students identified vocabulary learning, grammar correction, and access to authentic expressions as key strengths, noting the speed and convenience of AI platforms. Many also reported greater motivation and enjoyment when using AI. However, some concerns emerged regarding over-reliance, limited cultural awareness, and doubts about longterm benefits. Overall, students viewed AI as a valuable supplement to classroom learning, but not a replacement for it. The study underscores the potential of AI to support language development in Japan while highlighting the need for careful integration and further research into measurable outcomes.
