The method involved a participant-observer study in a nursing setting and semi-structured interviews of 9 nurses. Touch was categorized based on data content. As a result, the following 8 categories were developed : "touch for gently working on a patient's emotion," "touch for emotional connection," "touch for softening verbal communication," "touch for ascertainment of physical condition," "touch for alleviating physical condition," "touch for securement of safety," "touch for directing attention," and "rhythmic touch." When comparing touch that is performed in other fields, the "touch for directing attention" has become effective support to direct the patient's attention to reality. Such a support is achieved by making physical contact with one's hand when the patient is in a state of non-reality such as delusion. The characteristic of the "rhythmic touch" is the promotion of independent activity in order to instill an orderly lifestyle.}, pages = {77--80}, title = {看護場面における統合失調症患者に対するタッチの特徴}, volume = {2}, year = {2006} }
