Among the external carotid arteries the characteristics of arterial blood flows in the facial artery, superficial temporal artery, and middle temporal artery, both in the lengthwise and transverse sections could be depicted. There were differences in the means of the velocities, the pulsatility index (P. I.), and the resistance index (R. I.) between these various arteries.
