内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Even though ICT materials show potential to train dentists who can treat elderly people safely, few materials for undergraduate students are in the gerodontological field. Original tools with ICT focusing on gerodontology were developed with the collective effort of Showa University, Iwate Medical University and Health Sciences University of Hokkaido, funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. In this study, the effectivity of the tools was evaluated using questionnaires filled out by students after classes that incorporate ICT materials.
Two types of tools were developed. One, named “Step1”, is for a basic gerodontological learning. Another named “Step2” is for advanced and clinical learning. Fifth−year students took classes with Step1 in 2013, third−year students took classes with Step1 from 2014 to 2019 and fifth− year−students took classes with Step2 from 2014 to 2019. After the classes, the students answered questionnaires. The answers were collected and compiled. The data was analyzed by chi-square test.
From analysis of questionnaires, the students seemed to consider that the content of the tools is easy to understand, and their levels were matched with their needs. These responses showed no statistical difference in Step1 and Step2. However, the students seemed to feel that it is difficult to operate a computer and answer questions using a computer.
In this study, it is suggested that the tools are useful for learning gerodontology. However, it is clear that operation of a computer is a tough work for a certain number of students. Support for requirement of ICT skill is needed for such type of students as a future topic.
