内容記述 Background: Several studies have reported on using photoplethysmography (PPG) waveform data as a pulse wave, using mobile monitoring with wearable photoplethysmographic sensors.
Objectives: This study puported to verify whether PPG waveform data during the cold pressor test (CPT), measured, through mobile monitoring, with a wearable photoplethysmographic sensor (Polar Verity Sense, Polar Electro Oy, Kempele, Finland) were reliable and valid indicators of the autonomic nervous system.
Methods: Electrocardiography (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG) waveform data during the CPT were compared in 30 healthy participants. ECG waveform data were obtained in the lead II. The PPG waveform data were measured using the Polar Verity Sense on the arm. We used the Bland-Altman test and the Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) to examine the ECG and PPG waveform data consistency. This experiment consisted of three phases: Resting phase (Rest), Cold presser test (CPT), and Recovery phase (Recovery).
Results: The respective indices of the ECG and PPG data showed similar changes during Rest, CPT, and Recovery. The Cardiac Vagal and Sympathetic Indices (CVI/CSI), calculated by Lorenz plot analysis, showed no proportional errors but significant fixed errors. The consistency between CVI and CSI was also imperfect.
Conclusion: During CPT, each indicator on the PPG waveform data exhibited the same pattern as the results of each indicator on the ECG waveform data. CVI and CSI values calculated on PPG data from Polar Verity Sense showed fixed errors compared to the gold standard index ECG data, but no proportional errors. We considered that the CVI and CSI values calculated on PPG data from Polar Verity Sense showed consistency with those values of ECG.
