内容記述 | Approximately half of venous malformation are said to occur in the head and neck region, and calcification may be observed. We experienced a case of venous malformation that resembled submandibular sialolithiasis and had difficulty in differential diagnosis. In accordance with this, I will add a review of the literature and report the results. A 21−year−old female presented with intermittent pain and swelling in the left submandibular region in May 2018. One month ago the patient had colicky pain after every meal. Extraoral examination revealed an elastic soft mass with well−demarcated borders in the left submandibular region. On oral examination, swelling was observed on the left side of the floor of the mouth, and the mucosa of the floor of the mouth was dark red, and a bimanual palpation from inside and outside the mouth revealed that it was elastic, soft, and movable, with no induration, but was slightly painful. The original clinical diagnosis was submandibular gland sialolithiasis. We were monitoring her symptoms and one year later, in May 2019, when she visited the hospital, CT scans confirmed calcification−like images of various sizes, and since she entered a university in another prefecture, her progress was monitored every time she returned home. In August 2022, her symptoms recurred and she was referred to the Department of Otorhinolaryngolog in a General Hospital. As a result of an MRI and other tests, she was diagnosed with a venous malformation and scheduled for endovascular treatment. | |||||||||
