This study aimed to investigate whether head position influences the results of masticatory function tests. Masticatory function tests were conducted using the Glucosensor GS−II with bitescan in participants classified as Eichner A and without temporomandibular joint symptoms. A total of 126 data points were collected from 63 participants who were divided into two groups based on head position. Of the data points, 50 were obtained from the group with no head tilt during mastication, whereas 76 were obtained from the group with a head tilt to the right or left during mastication. The group with a tilted head position during mastication demonstrated a smaller decline in masticatory function compared to the group with no head tilt. This result may be due to increased mandibular displacement associated with the head tilt during mastication. These findings suggest that head tilt during mastication may be one of the factors influencing the results of masticatory function tests in individuals classified as Eichner A. |
